What's in a Blog?

Posted by Priscilla on July 22, 2013

What do I look for in a blog?

With little time left after running through all my roles in a day, I look for blogs that do four things:

1)      Cause me to think about something in a new way

2)      Give me practical advice

3)      Give me thoughtful, wise commentary on life

4)  Speak truth with grace

Below are a few of the blogs I like to read

On social media: http://annerallen.blogspot.com/2013/07/social-media-secrets-book-marketers.html

On writing:          http://www.necessarywriters.com/

On life:                 http://ajliebling.blogspot.com/

On life and writing: http://elisabethcrisp.com/

Since I am sure that you, my readers, may have found blogs that fit my qualifications as well as or better than the ones I list, I am asking you to share. Post your favorite blog site in the comments section and tell us why you like it so much.

http://www.aholyexperience.com/ Ann Voskamp, author of One Thousand Gifts, has a specific writing style that took some getting used to. But I persevered (in her book) and now read her blogs often, invariably recommending to my friends for something they are going through. Ann has keen spiritual perception, paints word images that explode off the page, and at the same time has practical, farmer's-wife-homeschooling-mother-of-six wisdom that sees life as it is. That's why I like it so much.

A favorite of mine is by writer-friend Marji Stevens at www.marjistevens.com
I would say it definitely fits your list of qualifications. :)
Thanks for asking for suggestions!
